According to Variety, Universal Studios has hired Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to adapt the Robert Ludlum novel The Sigma Protocol for the big screen.

The report says that the novel revolves around a young investment banker whose life becomes endangered after he uncovers a secret organization that has been manipulating the global economy.

Variety goes on to say that the script was acquired in 2002 just before the release of Ludlum’s The Bourne Identity. Incidentally, the report mentions that Universal is in early stages of creating the fourth Bourne film, directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Matt Damon.

At the moment, there is no word on a production date for The Sigma Protocol.
