According to a Variety report, Tobey Maguire will star in Universal’s The Crusaders, a historical drama about the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case.

The report continues by saying that Maguire will play Jack Greenberg, a recent law school grad who joins Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to win the case that ruled segregation illegal in American schools and paved the way for the civil rights movement.  

Variety adds that the film is based on Greenberg’s memoirs Crusaders in the Courts. Gary Ross, who collaborated with Maguire in Pleasantville and Seabiscuit, will direct and the multi-talented Danny Strong will write the script.
