Variety reports that Steven Spielberg will begin to focus his attention on a new DreamWorks feature about Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.
Liam Neeson reportedly agreed to play Lincoln over three years ago and has been waiting for the still-pending production start date. Playwright Tony Kushner wrote the script, which is largely derived from biographical work by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. Kushner last wrote the screenplay for Spielberg’s Munich.
Spielberg is currently promoting the much-anticipated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
